The Selfless Gift of Nurturing

Mothers have a unique ability to be nurturing an intentional design by our creator. This beautiful gift residing deep inside of women needs to surface. Some of us fight the feeling because of peer pressures or wanting to be popular with our children. Another reason, feelings of deep-seated insecurities due to past emotional, physical, and spiritual difficulties. But, we must embrace that characteristic; (nurturing), for the sake of our children.

Culture defines the does and don’ts which differ, but nurturing is a mother’s call. Some step into the role of motherhood giving little thought to the lifelong sacrifice and responsibility attached. The dictates of modern-day society and negative feelings stemming from past experiences sometimes separate us from our truths. Of course, self-gratification forces us to make decisions that are contrary to the best interest of our children.

Mothers were uniquely designed to be the core of families. They influence their families in a way that men cannot. Consequently, the act of nurturing is subdued when mothers lack a sense of purpose due to a lack of trust or perceived failures from past events. I argue, and many will agree that mothers are core to family success and when mothers are frustrated the family unity is disturbed. The mothers nurturing brings balance but when families, especially children, lack balance they struggle to become whole.

It is critical that mothers embrace who we are created to be; however, resisting the gift is unhelpful for the family and the community. It is crucial that we return to the track that God designed for his creation. The potential to be successful and live a full life is for all. Can we be both nurturing and successful? Yes! It is all about our perception and our values. Success in any area of life requires utilizing three key components: knowledge, desire, and determination. Awareness precedes desire and allows action.
